Children

Kate first came to Ethiopia in 1994 to help street children. In 1998 she founded The Kindu Trust to help needy children in Ethiopia (see the LINKS section for website). Since then The Kindu Trust has raised more than £500,000 to help the poor and now supports almost 400 vulnerable families across the northern Ethiopian Highlands, including orphans in foster care. After 12 years of running The Kindu Trust, first in the UK and then in Ethiopia, Kate retired from it and is now Honorary President.
